Noah Gottlieb, Principal
Noah founded The X Company with the idea that “Life’s Better With Company.” Determined to create apartment buildings that are more than just a stack of boxes, he is on a mission to relentlessly improve the urban living experience.
In addition to running The X Company, Noah also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Thresholds; a provider of mental health services where he sits on the real estate committee, and The Dovetail Project; an initiative designed to help at risk, adolescent fathers.
When he’s not on the road, you can find Noah at his apartment in L Logan Square.
Ben Brichta, Managing Director
Bringing his architectural experience to his role at X, Ben oversees all aspects of project delivery. He has a particular passion for incorporating compelling public spaces and programming into the portfolio, focusing on the intersection of art, design, and technology.
You can typically find Ben in a hard hat on site, but when he’s not traveling you can find him at his L Logan Square apartment with his wife and pittie mix pup, Dosa.
Andrew Kerr, Director of Acquisitions
As Director of Acquisitions, Andrew oversees the pre-construction phase of The X Company’s portfolio from acquisition through groundbreaking of each project.
On any given Saturday, you can find Andrew cheering on his alma mater, The University of Michigan. Go Blue!
Tony Vasquez, Lead Designer
Tony Vasquez joined The X Company in June 2017, where he focuses on the design and development of the new construction pipeline. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Architectural Engineering and Design.
Prior to X, Tony worked as an associate designer at Booth Hansen Architects in Chicago, where he was engaged in the firm’s design, sustainability, and marketing/communications efforts. From a first-place winning entry in the international “Architecture at Zero” sustainable design competition, to directing a complete branding/marketing overhaul – Tony approaches all challenges as opportunities to integrate art and engineering.
Tony credits his passion for the built environment, the visual arts, F&B, and music production to Chicago, where he was born and raised. His dedication to exploring these interests and seeking unique experiences guides his approach to development.
Tyler Perlman, Asset Management
Tyler Perlman joined The X Company in December 2016 as an Analyst. He primarily focuses on procurement and asset management of the multi-family portfolio. Prior to joining X, Tyler worked on the fixed-income trading desk for a global investment manager at Northern Trust.
Tyler is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied economics and developed a taste for enjoying craft beverages and live music. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Tyler has been enjoying Chicago’s Lake Shore Path since summer ’14.
Nate Shriver, Development Associate
As a Development Associate, Nate Shriver serves as a project manager on The X Company’s current and pipeline construction projects.
Prior to joining X, Nate served as an Associate for Springbank Capital Advisors, where he was responsible for the financial analysis, investment marketing and development coordination for over $700MM of transit-oriented development in the Chicagoland area. Nate began his career at Charles Hall Construction, LLC as a Financial and Accounting Analyst where he contributed to the development of senior living communities across the Midwest.
Originally from Akron, Ohio, Nate spends his weekends between the elation of watching the Cavs, Indians and Buckeyes, and misery of the watching the Cleveland Browns. He lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, IL.
Tony Ayala, Development Associate
As a Development Associate, Tony Ayala serves as a project manager on current and pipeline construction projects.
Previously, Tony worked for five years as a structural engineer in Boston, MA. During that time, he served as the project manager of ten building projects, ranging from high-rise residential and office buildings to professional sports stadium additions. He is licensed as a structural engineer in Massachusetts and Illinois.
Tony is currently pursuing his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He received his master’s degree in structural engineering from MIT and his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Outside of work, Tony enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and rooting for Notre Dame and his hometown St. Louis Cardinals.
Fabian Fondriest, Development Associate
Fabian joined The X Company in 2018 as a Development Associate and oversees both active construction projects and projects in the development pipeline
Before joining X, Fabian worked at Time Inc. in New York City on digital media teams for Sports Illustrated, Money, Fortune, and Time brands. Fabian graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in History, and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business with an MBA.
Outside of work, Fabian enjoys taking improv classes at the Second City and playing in local soccer and hockey leagues.
Sam Spiwak, Acquisitions Analyst
Sam joined The X Company as an Acquisitions Analyst in May 2018. His primary responsibilities include sourcing, underwriting, analyzing, and procuring assets for the X Social Communities portfolio. Previously, Sam held internships with Hines and the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
Born and raised in Evanston, IL Sam graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018 with a double BBA in Real Estate and Finance. Outside of work, Sam enjoys golfing, kayaking the Chicago River, and cheering on his Cubs and Badgers. Sam is also remembered among his peers at UW as a 2018 intramural softball champion.
